All our bells and whistles are included in our unlimited licence package

The McQuaig System™ includes all the tools you need to attract, manage & develop all of your staff

The McQuaig System™ helps select people who fit into your company's culture and develop them to their maximum potential. It is built around a number of simple and powerful, web-based, diagnostic tools.

The System achieves this with a three-step process:

1. Define the role

2. Assess the candidate

3. Retain and develop your people

If you are recruiting new staff, promoting from within or simply looking for more information to help you retain talent The McQuaig System™ can help, ultimately improving your bottom line.

  1. Define the role

(using The McQuaig Job Survey® and Occupational Test®)

McQuaig Job Survey®

The McQuaig Job Survey® helps you and your colleagues define and benchmark the behavioural requirements for any role. It also provides a list of targeted, role-specific interviewing questions to draw examples from the candidate's past experience.

An online assessment tool, The McQuaig Job Survey® objectively builds an “ideal” benchmark and enhances the role specification. It helps you to define the role thoroughly and build an outline of major responsibilities and challenges.

Research has shown that it is temperament, attitudes and emotional maturity, as opposed to education and technical designation that lead to success.

McQuaig Occupational Test®

The McQuaig Occupational Test® measures General Intelligence and 'speed-of-thought'. It indicates an individual's level of general mental agility, measuring:

    * » Vocabulary

    * » Verbal reasoning skills

    * » The ability to perform simple mathematical function

    * » Speed

    * » Power (the ability to answer correctly)

The McQuaig Occupational Test® gives you an indication of the level at which a person is capable of thinking. It is a measure of a person's capacity to grasp new ideas, to solve mental problems and learn quickly.

Why define the role?

  • Bolster your recruitment processes - another part of the 'equation'.
  • To build a template to identify the most suitable candidates
  • To replicate your top performing staff - identify common traits exhibited and hire similar individuals in the future.
  • To provide questions for interviewers to elicit examples from a candidate's past experiences
  • Help the line manager by illustrating how quickly their team-member will pick up new tasks/procedures etc.

2. Assess the candidate

(using The McQuaig Word Survey®)

Employees succeed when they have the right key behavioural requirements, such as a high sense of urgency or the ability to make decisions. You need tools to help you find the right person - with the right temperament.

Why assess the candidate?

  • Learn as much as you can about an individual's work habits before you make a role offer.
  • Understand the temperament and behaviour patterns that candidates will bring to the role: for instance, their level of urgency, people focus, sales orientation or independence.
  • Create a list of focused interview questions based on the candidate's own profile.

McQuaig Word Survey®

The McQuaig Word Survey® takes away the gut-feel and guesswork from recruitment. Understanding a candidate's temperament greatly improves your ability to predict on-the-job performance.

It dramatically improves your interview process. Managers can use customised behavioural interview questions and probes to increase objectivity and consistency in the interview process. By focusing on behavioural factors relevant to success, managers use their time more effectively and make more informed decisions.

The McQuaig Word Survey® is a comprehensive, easy to use psychometric tool built for line managers. The Understanding, Managing and Developing Reports help the manager engage with their employees.

How does it work?

  • The candidate for a position fills it out on-line (or on paper if preferred). Usually, this takes no more than twenty minutes.
  • You are sent via email or web the individual's Word Survey® Report.
  • The Report includes an extensive, in-depth analysis of the individual, a list of interviewing questions and an idea of fit, based on your established benchmark

It's quick and easy. You get results that are simple to understand and immediately useful in the hiring process.

What is included in every McQuaig Word Survey®?

Assets: Describes the individual's temperament in order of strength using their 'real' behaviour - the approach they are most likely to take in any given situation.

Developmental Considerations: Potential limitations of an individual, again in order of strength, based on their 'real' behaviour.

The Situational Changes: Shows how the individual perceives they behave in their present role. Suggestions are made to probe deeper in to job-related changes.

Situation Adjustment Indicator: Degree of adjustment, which can lead to stress, an individual is probably experiencing in their role on a day-to-day basis.

Notes and Cautions: These “flag up” certain aspects of the behaviour style and/or the changes in the 'Situational' profile which need particular focus and investigation.

Summary: A recap of the behavioural style, general role responsibility areas and preferred work environments.

Interviewing Questions & Answers: 'Management', 'General' or 'Sales' questions to help the interviewing process. Suggested positive and negative answers are provided. The questions also assist when probing for attitudes, maturity, self esteem and stability.

Leadership Report: Describes the way an individual will lead and manage others and can be used for Succession Planning.

Selling Styles Report: Describes the way an individual will sell information to others. This can include ideas, strategy as well as typical sales situations.

Assessment of Job Fit: A graphical representation of how close the individual matches the McQuaig Job Survey® benchmark.

Management Overview: A quick reminder of the profile for the line manager to use. This report is especially effective in the first 90 days after an individual is recruited/promoted.

Motivating Factors: Understand an individual's inner needs in order to assess whether they are being met in his current job or if they would realistically be met in a potential new role.

Strategies for Coaching & Developing: Ideas for engaging staff. This report guides line managers and increases retention of staff.

Developmental Learning Style: The individual's natural approach to training. Use this report when mapping out their development plan.

Team Approach: An insight in to how the individual will work with their colleagues. Reduce conflict by mapping out new and existing teams using this report.

3. Retain and develop your people

(using McQuaig Self Development Survey™)

Most of today's leaders cite employee retention and development as key to their company's success. Yet the time and expense that it takes to develop and implement retention and leadership development programmes can be prohibitive.

McQuaig Self Development Survey®

The McQuaig Self Development Survey® is a development report, based on an individual’s innate temperament, that can be used:

  • individually
  • with a manager
  • with a coach/mentor

Your core temperament changes very little during your lifetime. It is therefore critical to maximise your natural strengths and manage your natural weaknesses. The McQuaig Self Development Survey enables you to improve performance, increase job satisfaction and achieve greater success.

The Self Development Survey® is cost-effective and easy to administer. It provides valuable insights and an easy-to-understand Action Plan that can be implemented immediately. It fits with today's culture of employees taking personal responsibility for development.

Why use The McQuaig Self Development Survey®?

  • An easy way to identify natural strengths and increase personal effectiveness
  • Build greater self-awareness and use as part of an organisational appraisal system
  • Identify and develop future leaders using the report as a base to work from

How does it work?

  • The Survey is completed online
  • An extensive report, complete with Personal Action Plan worksheets, is emailed or picked up via the web
  • The individual works through the report over a comfortable time period.
